Comments: For any comic reader/fan of Marvel, this set offers some insight as to what the Marvel creators' thinking processes are behind those characters. Each writer, artist, and editor describe what it's like to write, draw, and oversee each of the major Marvel comic titles. As usual from a Marvel set, there is great artwork, but what really makes this set special is the text from the creators themselves on the card backs.
Checklist cards were placed at one card per box and there are numerous errors. Apparently, last-minute changes were made to the basic set and were not corrected on the checklist card before it went to the printer's shop. There are 4 different variants to the Sketchboard cards (art by Mike Wieringo), namely in the color of the card stock (white, yellow, blue, tan/gray). Sketchboard #18 (Spider-Man) is ultra-rare and is needed to complete the 24-card sketchboard set, which can be redeemed for one of only 100 limited edition Spider-Man cards hand-signed by Mike Wieringo and Stan Lee. Autographs and original sketchagraphs were available at one autograph card and one sketchagraph card per box. 16,600 sequentially numbered boxes were made for this set.
