Chase:
Comments: These cards appear to have animation style artwork (possibly obtained from the X-Men cartoons?) and text on the card backs are in Japanese. The image above shows the front and back of card #2 in the set . This card set has the look and feel of game cards in that they have rounded corners and are on slightly thinner card stock. However, they are traditional Japanese cards obtained from vending machines. All Japanese card sets are fixed with 36 cards for the basic set and six chase cards. The chase cards here have a prism finish and are found in vending machines at a ratio of 1:18.
In 1994, Marvel introduced it's comics into the Japan market with Japanese language. The card manufacturer produced this set for the introduction of the X-Men. After this set, no more Marvel-related card sets were issued in Japan. In 1997, Japan card manufacturers began producing their cards in standard size and stopped the production of their Japanese vending cards. Thanks Steve!
